You have such a gift Rachel. 08 years of LT Joe Kenda 2011-2019 thank you for the memories shirt by T-shirtat to articulate feelings and delicate situations in a way that empowers. We have so many insecurities as parents and our own emotional baggage that we bring to our parenting. Your willingness to be so honest and vulnerable is what makes your writing so special. Thanks once again for writing such an honest and beautiful piece. And we raised our daughter the same way, letting her know we are always willing to be the bad guy anytime she needs an out. I gave my kids a code word when they were young.
If they felt uncomfortable, 08 years of LT Joe Kenda 2011-2019 thank you for the memories shirt by T-shirtat and wanted to come home or have other kids go home, they could let me know discreetly ‘mom, we need to get some insert food name and I’d step in and help them out of the situation. I don’t want to give away the specific food, lol. Never had a problem being the bad guy for my children’s safety or mental health. My oldest is grown now and feels secure in asking for what they need to be safe or comfortable in any situation. I hope it’s because I gave them a safe place to ask for what they need. Really appreciate you sharing this tip and knowing the beautiful outcome of being their safe haven over the years.
